Researching the History of Your Home

The best place to start in learning about the history of your home is the village building department.  Both Pelham and Pelham Manor maintain a file on each house in Pelham.  For houses built before the 1920s, you may find very little in the file from the time of its construction (there was no building department, zoning law or government involvement in home construction in Pelham in the 19th century!)  Pelham Preservation Society has begun digitizing photos of homes from the town historian's collection.  If you house is not on the list below, contact the town historian at town hall to ask about other photos.
