Traffic Poles at Historic Four Corners
When the NYS Department of Transportation installed new banal, industrial grade traffic lights and poles at Pelham Manor's "Four Corners" intersection, the Pelham Preservation Society went into action and organized a lobbying effort before the Pelham Manor Village Board to advocate for more historic-looking alternatives. In cooperation with the Pelham Manor Village Board and thanks to the efforts of Village Manager John Pierrpont, the NYS DOT agreed to replace the poles. The Pelham Preservation Society provided the funding of nearly $30,000. After a delay in the work caused by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the new poles were installed in September, 2013.
